Hello hansiamerica, I think that the problem you report is a different one than renl60. BirdieSync on the Windows Mobile device very likely disconnects because of the important number of events you synchronize. At which date did it start ?
Which frequency did you set ? (daily, weekly, etc.)
When I limit the reoccuring to a week in the past in Thunderbird
