RSS freeds

Post by immaterialman »

Hi there,

I have just successfully upgraded to 1.701 and lightening 0.9 - it could not have been easier! Well done.
As I was setting up my things in Options I noticed that all my RSS feeds show up in the mail options and I thought wow, how cool, I can now read RSS either on Thunderbird or o my phone and afterwards they will simply sync... well I selected a couple but when I went to sync, it said there was no RSS account on the mobile - which is what I knew.

Question:
1.) does BirdieSync work with any particular RSS client?
2.) can I set up mobile outlook to be my RSS reader - I'm running WM6.0 on an HTC TyTN II

No big deal if it doesn't work as I've got an RSS client for my phone, what attracted me to this solution was that I don't have to mark feeds read on either device because I've read them on the other...

Any help very much appreciated!

Hello,

Actually I don't know if it possible to synchronize RSS. The error you got on the mobile device is because you must create a mail account with the same name as your Thunderbird mail account ("RSS" ?). So maybe if you create this mail account on your mobile device you'll be able to synchronize. But I guarantee you nothing...
Anyway I don't think that you'll be able to share your "read" status between your RSS client on your mobile device and in Thunderbird. BirdieSync synchronizes with Pocket Outlook (which doesn't support RSS access) and has no access to your other RSS mobile client.
