I also can't connect/synchronize to my T-Mobile MDA Compact V with Windows Mobile 6.5. All categories are grayed out. I get an message" Cannot connect to mobile device or Birdiesync is not installed". I tried 2 times to install Birdiesync on my MDA. It seems as all okay.
But no synchronisation. I can't start Birdiesync on my MDA.

Hello Dieter,

When you say "all the categories are grayed out", you mean in the new BirdieSync window accessible when you double click on BirdieSync green icon in the system tray ? (not in the previous ActiveSync/Windows Mobile Device Center window)
Does the status of your mobile device is displayed as "Connected" in BirdieSync window ?
Was BirdieSync 1.x installed before on your mobile device ? If yes, did you uninstall it before installing BirdieSync 2.0 ?

After having closed Thunderbird/Sunbird, disconnected, reconnected your mobile device and waited for the end of the synchronization (which never starts in your case), could you send your logs with the Thunderbird/Sunbird menu "Tools/BirdieSync/Archive logs..." to support(at)birdiesync.com ?
Thanks.

Birdie,

Am I reading correctly that this version is TB 3 Only? So no support for TB2?
Also, when will there be a version for Postbox? Because now there is no way to upgrade functionality unless I switch to TB3 (which I don't want to, having postbox covers all my needs).

Hi Birdy,

Was BirdieSync 1.x installed before on your mobile device ? If yes, did you uninstall it before installing BirdieSync 2.0 ?
First I did an uninstall on the mobile device and my PC. Then I made an install of the new version. It said, it's all okay (both: the mobile device and the PC).
In "ActiveSync" I can't enable the categories (all grayed out). In BirdieSync also all is grayed out and the status is displayed as "disconnected".
On my mobile device I think Birdiesync doesn't start. Manually starting fails.
Tomorrow I will make an new try and then I can send the log-file.
Thanks

Hi, I have the same problem. I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. I uninstalled version 2 of Birdiesync from the PDA. And installed the new beta. After installing to my 02 Orbit (Windows Mobile 6.0) I got an error=0 type error. I tried again a few times, before telling it not to install on the PDA again, when the install carried on.

The birdiesync window does not see my PDA as connected. Here is the contents of the log file:

Hello jook,

You mentioned "I got an error=0 type error". Is it the exact error message you got ? Is it a window which appeared on the mobile device ? On the desktop ?

Is it a USB or a Bluetooth connection ? Could you tell me what option is set in "Settings/Connections/USB to PC" on your mobile device ? Is the checkbox "Activate advanced network" checked ? If yes, could you try to unselect it and reconnect your mobile device ?
Thanks.

Hello, yes the advanced network setting was checked. I have now unchecked it and the phone is now seen by the sync utility. What is this setting for, and will I have problems with other software by having it unchecked?

The exact error was "Error while installing BirdieSnyc mobile device part (error = 0). I still get that error even when I try to run the install with the advanced network setting unchecked. It happens after the message about checking their are messages on the PDA before proceding (can't remember the exact wording). That message dissapears on its own and is then replaced with that error message.

It is now currently doing a sync and it seems to be going OK.

I don't think that you'll have problem leaving it unchecked. Actually it changes the way your mobile device connects to the desktop. The "Advanced" mode is a RNDIS connection and was introduced with Windows Mobile 5.0. But since Microsoft had problems with this mode they added the possibility to disable it in Windows Mobile 6.0... If you leave it unchecked you use the usual serial connection.
Could you tell me which firewall you use ?

Regarding the installation problem, I don't think it is related to the connection mode. Maybe an error is logged in the desktop Install.log file.

After analysis, it seems that an installation error is improperly detected although BirdieSync was properly installed on the mobile device. It will be necessary to fix it. Note that this error is not systematic but prevent the installation from being fully achieved.

Just to confirm the syncing has worked fine for me.

It may just be a co-incidence, but my computer did not turn off the display or enter sleep mode last night. The monitors and PC were both on this morning - this is something that has not happened before - my computer is setup to turn off the displays after 20 minutes of no activity and the PC after 3 hours. Is it possible that the birdiesync schronization tool is keeping the PC awake?

I will reboot the PC now and see how it behaves today.

Sorry, it's not possible to create a log-file. I started the LogArchiver as you wrote. No file created.

It was the 3rd time, I made a clean install. It seems, all worked fine, but nothing happened. BirdieSync says: "No mobile device connected". Same as above.
