Sunbird strange problem!!

Post by bassopt »

Hello!

Something very strange!! I installed sunbird on one of my computers and imported a calendar from a backup i did on lightning... i moved to sunbird because it has a lot more features than lightning for now. When i synched with my pda all my entries where there in double both on pda and PC....I must tell you that i sync my pda with multiple computers all using birdiesync?!?!? On one of my computers i dont have sunbird just lightning! Can this be the problem? is there a way to fix it?

Its very anoying i had to delete a year of duplicated enteries!! thank god said it to sync one year only! Smile

All thest!

Hello,

I don't think that the fact you use both Lightning and Sunbird on two different computers is important.
But if you do an import of events in your computer, they will be considered as new events, even if they are already present on the mobile. There are absolutely no link between the event on your mobile and the new imported event.
When you connected the mobile the first time, did you choose a "Combine" option during new ActiveSync partnership ?
Which version of BirdieSync do you use ?

Hello there,

Im using the 1.4.0.3 version, and yes i did choose Combine when i first connected my pda.

So how can i backup my data so that it doesnt duplicate all my calendar data, when i import it? i'm guessing that i need to find a real backup software or something instead of using import/export feature on sunbird/lightning?!?.... i ask this because i often export my calendar for use on my second computer, but i only sync with this second computer later, but most of the times i have already synched on my first computer.., so its most lickely lots of data already there..little confusing but i think you understand!!

Thank you very much for all you assistence!!!!

All the best,

Presently, BirdieSync provides a mechanism to avoid duplicates with "Combine" but only removes items that are perfectly identical. Maybe a more permissive mechanism will be offered later.

But why do you use an external import for your second computer ? Wouldn't it be more simple to use BirdieSync to populate your other computer ?

Would it be possible to extend the new mechanism for avoiding duplicates (in Version 1.5.1.x) from partnership creation to normal sync (optional maybe)? Would be a great feature I think :)

Best regards
Marcus
