Sync Error after 1.6.3.1 update

Post by wirsing »

First of all thanks for this great piece of software and your short update iterations.
I recently installed Lightning 0.7 upgrade and the new (1.6.3.1) version of birdiesnyc. Since then I cant sychronize any information.

After a while trying to sync my handheld displays the following information:
Birdiesync error: An error happened synchronizing this mobile. Please disconnect and reconnect this mobile.

These are my logs:

I also found a strange email in my Inbox on the Handheld, which has no sender and no subject and the reception time is always the current time. I can't open or delete this email. I am not certain if this behavior has a connection to my sync problem, but I never saw such an email before.

Hello,

> nome: It seems there is a problem accessing a task on the mobile. I will send you a new version of BirdieSync to investigate on your problem. Can you browse manually all your tasks on the mobile or is there one which has a problem ?

> wirsing: Regarding the mail with empty subject, do you receive mail on your mobile device with Internet access or are they only transfered with synchronization ?
That may have a link with your problem since there is a problem with a particular mail. I will need to send you again a new version of BirdieSync to investigate on your problem.

I don't receive any email on my mobile, the emails are only synchronized via birdiesync.

Unfortunately no. I can't delete or open this email and it always keeps the status unread. It is also strange that the reception time is alway the current time and date.
In the meantime I reinstalled thunderbird, lightning and birdiesnyc but the issue is still present. Only if I unselect all categories in WMDC the synch process finishes without error message but if I select only one of the categories the system comes up with an error message on both the computer and the handheld.

Hello Birdy,

thank you.

Yes, I can browse my tasks. But now is the trial period expired ;-(. Manualy I wrote all task into Thunderbird and delete all tasks on mobile. Sync is ok. But then I delete all in Thunderbird and sync back stopps. I tried the same again but deleting task by task, make a new task in Thunderbird and sync. I can't find a task that is responsible for the stopp. Sync stopps until the last task is delete. So same procedure as last time.

Have you send me the new version of BirdySync? It is not arrived until now.

In the mean time I was able to fix my problem. I also thought it was due to a problem with the mail database, but I was not able to fix it using various tools. Finale I reinstalled the OS on my handheld and the problem was gone. Anyway I am happy to get this mail database fixing software, to solve this problem much faster in the future.
Thanks for the support

Hi,

I'm also using vista and birdy sync, and have the issue that the sync does nit finalize. log file has this line and repeats it constantly:

Local 27/11/2007 21:34:48::0320 ERROR: Impossible to add item, result = 0x804a0002 (-645781615) (GetLastError = 0)
Local 27/11/2007 21:34:48::0367 ERROR: Error while creating Event object (GetLastError = 0)

I work with Lightning 0.7 and use thunderbirthday as an extension.

What to do?

This error happens when a calendar is "read only" and BirdieSync tries to create an item in it.
The question now is to know why this calendar was set "read only". That can sometimes happen after a particular error.

After having restarted Thunderbird and reconnected your mobile, could you send me the logs as described in this thread ?
Thanks.

From what I see, you very likely use the plugin ThunderBirthday. The problem is that the calendar generated with this plugin is "read only" so it is not possible to create events in it since they can only be generated from the contacts. That's why you get unresolved items.

Since you checked the option "link the calendar to the category of the appointment or the task", the possible workaround is the following one:

- Unselect the Birthday calendars from the synchronization in BirdieSync options
- Rename the Birthday calendars with other temporary names
- Create normal local calendars with the Birthday names you used previously before renaming ("Birthday XXX"). These names must be identical to the category names of the appointments which cannot synchronize.
- Then reconnect your mobile.

Normally the birthday events should be synchronized in these new local calendars.
Then delete these temporary calendars
Rename back the Birthday calendars with their original names and select them again for synchronization.
Then reconnect your mobile.
The Birthday events should have been synchronized again on your mobile device.

Of course it would be simpler if a "one way" option to synchronize a calendar only from Thunderbird to the mobile device would be available. ActiveSync/WMDC doesn't allow it. But maybe it will be possible to offer later a workaround in BirdieSync.
