Google Calendar and Lightning

Hello,

I trialed BirdieSync with Mozilla Lightning today and it works fine.
But there is one problem.
I have always synched my Lightning with Goolge Calendar through the Provider Add-On. Problem is, that when I select the Network-Google-Calendar calendar of Lightnint to synch with my PPC through Birdie, the whole calendar on the PPC gets emptied right away!
It works without problems with a local Lightning calendar, though.

Does anybody know of a way to synch all three, Google Calendar, Lightning and PPC?

Suggestions are very much appreciated. This way Birdie is useless for me.

Thanks
Dominik

Hello Dominik,

The synchronization with a Google calendar with the provider add-on is under investigation. Actually there are one or two problems in the Google provider code itself and BirdieSync should be slightly modified to adapt to this provider. Another problem is that this provider is in early stage development and has still a lot of restrictions... I think that next version of BirdieSync will be more compliant with this provider but it will very likely need to be patched.

Best regards

It shouldn't be very long. Very likely in next version.

Synchronization with Google calendar is now possible in version 1.5.3.0. But as mentioned before, presently the Google calendar provider needs to be patched. Check out this thread.

sync works with sunbird but not with lightning.
I installed the "provider for google calendar 0.2" extension on thunderbird.
The sync google <--> lightning works great
The sync lightning <--> ppc does not work with birdie sync
the sync google --> sunbird works (one way, read only mode)
the sync sunbird --> ppc works with birdiesync

I installed the patch.
At the end I only have a one way sync

Hi there,

I'm having similar problems. I'm using Thunderbird 2.0 with Google Provider 0.2.1 and BirdieSync 1.5.4.0 on Windows XP Pro SP2 with ActiveSync 4.5.

Syncing my contacts is no problem. This works fine for me. But when it comes to syncing my events it takes very long (...about 90 mins for ca. 600 events), sometimes it even hangs and doesn't respond anymore.

Is this because of misconfiguration or is there a way to speed things up?

Regards,
Athi

Ok, I installed your js-Patch for my Google Provider 2.1. Now syncing works, although it's still very slow. I'm syncing two GoogleCals with category option. But some events don't appear on my PPC though they are in the GoogleCal.

If it takes 30s to synchronize an event, it's because there is a time out and a synchronization problem. When you say synchronization is slow, how long does it take to synchronize one event ?

Is it possible to send to support(at)birdiesync.com the log ThunderbirdService.log (located in C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Application Data\BirdieSync\Log\
) after the synchronization ?
