Duplicate events (2 computers)

I am getting duplicate events in my calendars when syncing. I have a desktop and a laptop that I sync with the PDA and 2 calendars (Home and UK32Holidays, an ical calendar - webcal://ical.mac.com/ical/UK32Holidays.ics )

Whenever I sync to the other computer I get duplicate holidays from UK32 inserted into my home calendar. If I delete the duplicate so that on the PC there is only one holiday, only one on the laptop and only one on the pda and then re-sync to a different computer the duplicate is re-inserted.

Eg:
Start state: Laptop, PC & PDA - only single holiday entries in UK32 calendar as expected. PDA last synced with laptop
Sync to PC, duplicates appear on PC in home calendar
Remove duplicates and force sync
PC & PDA have no duplicates (laptop still in original state)
Sync to laptop, duplicates appear in home calendar on laptop

I can re-sync to the same computer as many times as I like, it is only when I sync to the other that the duplicates are inserted in my home calendar.

Hello,

In order for me to better analyze your problem, could you answer to these questions ?

Could you tell me if you subscribed to UK32Holidays on both computers ?
Did you select these 2 calendars for synchronization on both computers ?
Which calendars are the "default" calendars for synchronization ?
Did you select the option "link the calendar to the appointment or task category" ?

Thanks.

Yes both are selected for synchronisation on both computers
The default calendar is "Home" on both computers
Yes the option is selected

Hope this helps

A first problem I see is that UK32Holidays is synchronized on both computers. Because the first time, a UK32Holidays event will be synchronized on the laptop to the mobile. Then it will be transfered from the mobile to the desktop UK32Holidays (not that the event is already there since you subscribed to this calendar on the desktop computer). So that could lead to a duplicate. Another problem is that generally, remote calendars like UK32Holidays are in read only mode. So the fact that it is not possible to write an event to it, could lead to problems.

But you mentioned that the option "link the calendar to the appointment or task category" was selected. In that case, it is not normal to have a holiday event synchronized in the Home calendar. Could you confirm that this option is selected on both computers. Could you send to support (at) birdiesync.com the two prefences.xml files located in C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Application Data\BirdieSync\ on both computers ? (Application Data is a hidden folder: in explorer window, you must check the option "Show hidden files and folders") and give me the names of the two UK32Holidays calendars that you used in Sunbird/Lightning ?

Presently, maybe the solution would be to subscribe to the UK32Holidays on only one computer, then to create a local calendar UK32Holidays on the other computers that would be synchronized.
