Aaaaa! Ginormous BirdieWatcher.log!
Aaaaa! Ginormous BirdieWatcher.log!
My PPC kept complaining about running out of flash memory and I couldn't figure out where it was all going... only to find that my BirdieWatcher.log file is now 33M! That's half of my flash memory... is there a setting somewhere to keep the logfile below a certain size?
I'm using 1.6.3.0.

Re: Aaaaa! Ginormous BirdieWatcher.log!
This issue occurred for me again. I'm still using 1.6.3.0 and my logfile was 29M. It is filled over and over again with lines such as the following; multiple times per second:
As far as I can tell, the sync has pretty much been working correctly lately...

Re: Aaaaa! Ginormous BirdieWatcher.log!
Hello,
Could you send to support(at)birdiesync.com the file Preferences.xml located in:
XP: C:\Documents and Settings\<users name>\Application Data\BirdieSync\
Vista: C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Roaming\BirdieSync\
(Application Data is a hidden folder: in explorer window, you must check the option "Show hidden files and folders")
Thanks.

Re: Aaaaa! Ginormous BirdieWatcher.log!
Thanks. I received the preferences file. Could you tell me which date and version was written at the top of BirdieWatcher.log ?
Could you please also send me the file Preferences.xml which is located on your mobile in \Program Files\BirdieSync ?

Re: Aaaaa! Ginormous BirdieWatcher.log!
on its way...
Re: Aaaaa! Ginormous BirdieWatcher.log!
That's weird. The error mentioned in BirdieWatcher.log refers to a preference file whose format is not compatible with BirdieSync 1.6.x.x. So it was very likely a preference file used with an earlier version. But the preference file on the mobile device that you sent to me is not the one who leaded to errors and seems compatible with 1.6.3.0...
Would you have another Preferences.xml file somewhere on the mobile device ?

Re: Aaaaa! Ginormous BirdieWatcher.log!
Not that I know of! I do have a Program Files folder on my storage card, but there is no BirdieSync folder on it. Is there anyplace else it could be picking it up from?
I was planning to upgrade to 1.6.4.0 when I get the chance anyway, should I just wipe out the preferences when I do?

Re: Aaaaa! Ginormous BirdieWatcher.log!
I couldn't think of particular places to look for on the mobile for an alternative preference file. Maybe a global search would help...
The preference file should be automatically replaced when connecting the mobile device. And the file that you sent to me seemed correct.
Did you keep a full copy of BirdieWatcher.log ? If yes, even if it's big, could you send it to support with a service like http://www.yousendit.com ?
Is it also possible to search on your desktop if there is a place where another Preferences.xml would be located ?
Thanks.

Re: Aaaaa! Ginormous BirdieWatcher.log!
Birdy, did you get a chance to go over the full log I sent? Can the log at least be set to only write a certain # of these type of exception, or have BirdieWatcher truncate the log after it grows to a certain size? This is happening with more and more frequency, and each time I need to kill BirdieWatcher from the task manager then manually delete the logfile.
