Problems with syncing large attachments

Post by elgrande »

Hi,
Everything seems to work well, except when I try to sync a mail with a large attachment. I store all my mails on a storage card, so that can not be the problem. I set the attachment and body size much higher then necessary!
I use Vista, Birdiesync 1.6.3.2 and windows mobile 5

This is the result of the
Device provider Log:
Local 30/12/2007 12:17:37::0000 BirdieSync: version 1.6.3.2
Local 30/12/2007 12:17:37::0000 Operating system: SmartPhone, version 5.1

Local 30/12/2007 12:19:31::0000 End of synchronization

When I remove the Mail with the large attachment (more then 2000kb) I got the next result.( All seems to be OK)

Local 30/12/2007 12:55:14::0000 BirdieSync: version 1.6.3.2

I 'd like to confirm that bug. I am currently trying out BirdieSync (and so far I 'm thrilled about it !), and while everything else works perfectly, I 've been having problems synchronizing emails (3 pop accounts, a global inbox & 2 subfolders under the global inbox). The sync process would constantly drop unexpectedly, resulting in half-synced or (even worse) half-transferred mails, duplicates, etc - plus I had to soft reset my device after each failure in order for it to connect to ActiveSync again without problems.

After browsing through this forum, I saw this thread. Indeed I had a couple of emails in the last month (the sync period I have selected) with attachments near or over 2MB in size. I had the options set to sync attachments up to 5MB (like the previous poster, I store attachments on the SD card so I didn't mind the size), and decided to drop the limit down to 1MB (1024kb). I tried a clean re-sync and everything worked perfectly !

All this happens on Windows XP SP2, Thunderbird v2.0.0.9 / Lightning v0.7, ActiveSync v4.5.0 / BirdieSync v1.6.4.0, and a WM6 HTC TyTN device.

I 'm really happy that I could "solve" the problem - however, if this is a bug, I 'd love to see it fixed as soon as possible. Having all my recent email on my device, complete with all attachments, is very useful to me.

Other than that, I am really excited about this product. A definite purchase for me after a few more days of test-driving it.

Hello,

Presently, as you mentioned in the previous post, BirdieSync cannot synchronize big attachments and the synchronization can hang or stop while synchronizing them. For the moment, it is recommended to keep low settings for the body and attachment maximum sizes.

I have problem with attachments.
I set in Birdiesync in Thunderbird attachment size 600KB.
When I send e-mail with attachment e.g. 400KB from Thunderbird, after synchronization is e-mail with attachment in PDA, too.
When I send e-mail with attachment e.g. 400KB from PDA, synchronization din't pass! Activesync reports problem during the synchronization!!! Why???!!!

Windows Mobile 6.0
BirdieSync 1.7.0.5

Hello abrandecky,

If your mobile device still reports a problem while synchronizing this mail, after having closed Thunderbird/Sunbird, disconnected, reconnected your mobile device and waited for the end of the synchronization, could you send your logs with "Tools/BirdieSync/Archive logs..." to support(at)birdiesync.com ?
Thanks.
