no "options" under activce sync...?

hi there..
i am a new user. saw birdie, read about it, was facinated and bought it...online...
after that, couse i was shure it will work, i tried now for more then even a week,
to synchronize my stuff from tb- (ver 2.009) and lightning
but i cant´ go through..
so, would be fine if someone could give me some advice...

made everything (so i think) in the right way

using a HTC-touch from t-mobile-austria, (sept 2007)
installed active sync (came with the mobile)
and then birdie...
but during my now 5th installation it says i should queck all the boxes what i wonna synchronice
in active sync-options-tools...
but, there is nothing to select...?

went throug all the threads (took me a while)
but could not find a solution...
tried to install it several times, hoped was missing something,
but same problem is comming ....

so? what am i missunderstanding...?

Hello,

After you have connected your mobile, do you have "cards", "events", "tasks" and "mails" options in ActiveSync options window ? Can you check these checkboxes or are they greyed out ?

super fast reply... !

after connecting my mobile.. there comes a birdie popup which says.. ".. noc categories are selected..." (etc you must know the text)
but during installation and also in tb-options i have selected things i need... (addressbook, calendar, mail...)

in the actice sync window "options" is grey (so i cannot select anything..)

what to do...?
(sorry, questions might be boring for you... ;)

You don't bore at all ! :)
The "options" menu can only be opened after your mobile is connected and synchronized (even if you didn't select any category). That's the way ActiveSync works because it stores the configuration on the mobile...

mhhhh.,....

after conecting my mobile active sync starts up...
then there comes the pop up message from birdie... (mentioned bevore)

then active sync says "looking for chanches"....
after a while it says "synchronising from..." (nothing..?)

and this takes ages... i can tell you....
nothing happens ....

all is connected,
all is active
active sync is "synchronicing.." but i dont know what... and if it even is doing anything...
takes minutes after minutes and nothing happens...

what do you think... how long should i wait..?

i am afraid your advice did not help yet... ;(

any other ideas...? or suggestions...?

If you never see any change in the progress bar while synchronizing, it might be a problem of firewall. You may try to change the way you connect to your PC.
Could you have a look to this thread and tell me if it helps you ?

birdy,

did all what you said... (thought about the firwall the other day also, but gave it another try)
so i deactivated the firewall and still.. nothing changes...

still the same..

mic.sync says "lookging for changes"
then the birdy pop up appears with his message
and then active.sync start´s to synch what ever.. and it still does.. what ever..

moving on now to the thread you mentioned,
let you know if it helped.. later on...

Sometimes disabling the firewall is not enough and you have to uninstall it. Anyway, switching to a serial USB connection (instead of a RNDIS connection) should bypass the firewall.

If you still have the problem, right after ActiveSync hangs up, could you send me all the logs as described in this thread ?
Maybe I will find useful information in them.

have to go to a meetin now...

trying connection over bluethooth...
after trying the usb-re-connection...

went through the page you mentioned the other day...
will give it also another try...

think we are comming closer...

let you know more later or tomorrow... depents on the meeting... ;)

don´t know why...
but had a beer after my meeting...
and comming back to the office..
tried to connect over bluethooth...
did not work...
so thought going back to the beginning might be good...
so, connected ober usb (as you suggested bevore..)
and, what had not been working before
works now after the beer....

????
don´t know why.. but maby i should not ask,
i am only happy
that i´ve got my first synch done right now....

hope it will last...

if not,
will come back to you..
