Hello,
Yesterday, I tried to install the latest version of Birdiesync on Vista but the installation immediatly stopped because - according to Birdiesync - Windows Mobile Device Centre was not present on the computer. I had already synchronised my PDA (HP with Win Mobile 5) for exchanging files with the same computer without installing anything on the latter, and ActiveSync 4.5 on the former (the PDA). But anyway, I downloaded drvupdate-x86.exe from Windows web site (WDMC pages) and tried to install it on my computer which refused because (it said that) the already installed version of WDMC was more recent.
Then I am stuck. Any idea ?
Thanks,
Yves
Birdiesync does not detect WMDC on Vista
Re: Birdiesync does not detect WMDC on Vista
Hello,
Which version of the WMDC do you have ? 6.1 ?
If you know how to use a registry editor, could you check that the following key is defined:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE "SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Mobile Device Center\6.1
Thanks.

Re: Birdiesync does not detect WMDC on Vista
Hello,
Thanks for the reply.
I checked in the registry, there is no key named \Windows Mobile Device Center under
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft
I tried to create one but then the birdiesync installer required a "ceappmgr.exe"

Re: Birdiesync does not detect WMDC on Vista
Hello,
That's weird. There are a lot of files missing in the WindowsMobile directory. Are you sure that the Windows Mobile Device Center is properly installed on your machine ?
Could you try to uninstall it, reboot your PC and install it again then reboot your PC ?
You could download it from: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/ ... enter.mspx

Re: Birdiesync does not detect WMDC on Vista
It's getting worse, I can't uninstall WDMC the way it has been put on my PC.
I even tried to rename the directory so that it would not be found, but when booting, it was automatically renamed !
I would have to find all the elements related to WDMC scattered in different directories, delete them all, purge the registeries and then boot and install the right version.

Re: Birdiesync does not detect WMDC on Vista
Do you guys have any update on the issue? I have the same exact problem here...
Re: Birdiesync does not detect WMDC on Vista
Did you try to uninstall the WMDC and reinstall it ?
After the reinstallation, what do you have in the registry ?
If you start the WMDC manually (double click on the WMDC icon in the Control Panel), do you still have nothing in the registry ?
Thanks.
