Hi,

I use BirdieSync to sync my HTC TYTNII with my (business)laptop with Thunderbird and Lightning. After initial setup everything went very well. However after having updated first Lightning and later BirdieSync, the synchronization fails often. What happen's;

I start my Windows and Lightning
I connect the HTC with my laptop by USB connection.
Microsoft ActiveSync recognizes the HTC and starts the syncing process by starting to look for changes
I get an error message (BirdiSync error) on my HTC telling me to please disconnect and then connect again
After having done this the ActiveSync doesn't recognize the HTC
After either trying again or stopping the syncing on the HTC the process starts again with the same result

I must say the connection has been succesfully setup on a few occasions but for whatever reason fails now over and over again.

please help!?

Hello,

Could you check that BirdieSync version is the correct one in Thunderbird add-on list ?
If not, I suggest you to look at the end of this thread ("If BirdieSync options is not displayed in Thunderbird or Sunbird Tools menu or if the version number of BirdieSync extension is incorrect after upgrading BirdieSync")

I will need some log files to investigate your problem.
Could you send me them as described in this thread ?
Thanks.

The version shown in Thunderbird Add-on list shows the correct version, 1.6.9. After initial update to 1.6.9 it did show the wrong version number. I checked the forum to solve this and this worked (removing the files thing) I will send the log zip to the support mail adress.

I installed the udated version. Still the same problem. I have now removed the pairing, un-installed Lightning etc. The HTC does connect now and starts to look for changes. It takes like forever though. When I pair it with my 'home' laptop with Outlook 2003 on it, it only takes a few minutes to fully (re) synchronize. After having uninstalled Lightning the connection on the Thunderbird Laptop is working fast again. So it seems that Lightning somehow has to do with it.

After having reinstalled Lightning all my former appointments and setting re-appeared again. Also the pairing takes for ages again. Some how the system thinks it needs to sync over 3000 events and only suncs one event per 5 or so seconds... In reality I only have a handful of appointments in my calendar. I do use Google Calendar and the provider 0.4 add-on. Could this have something to dow ith it?

The version that was sent to you should have allowed to deal with your specific problem (regarding mail synchronization). I would have been interested in getting the logs to check it was properly handled.

Could you tell me how many events you roughly have in your Google calendar ?
Thanks.

It seems everything now is working fine. As I said, I synced my Lightning Calendar through Google Sync with my Outlook Calendar. I forgot about the thousands of events starting somewhere 2003... So after having archived most of them and then sync again through Google Calendar Sync, now everything seems to work properly again. However I still think it is strange that my synchronization of the HTC with the Outlook laptop (also with all the events in it) did work fine whereas Thunderbird and BirdieSync sort of ... failed?...
