Vista doesn't sync automatically?

On windows Vista I have to manually start the synchronization in the Mobile Device Center when I add items to Thunderbird. Although Vista says every 5 minutes that the synchronization succeeded, no items are copied to my pda (the BirdieSync message doesn't pop up either). When I add an item on my pda, synchronization succeeds and items are copied to my pc and vice versa.

Hello Henry,
On Vista, the Windows Mobile Device Center works differently than on XP. Although it seems that the synchronization is launched every 5 minutes, it really happens only every hour. I don't know a way to change this frequency for the moment. So it is necessary to manually launch the synchronization. I hope that a "real time" desktop synchronization will be provided in a next version.

is there any change or at least some hope to the future? Its very annoying and sometimes i forget to synchronize something...
