Cannot sync consistently

I use Birdiesync (latest version installed) with my Treo 700w (Windows Mobile 5), Thunderbird/Lightning (latest) and fully updated Activesync. I am unable to achieve consistent syncing. The syncs screen will stall with "Looking for Changes". I am connected with USB and have tried the changes recommended for this from this forum. Occasionally the sync will work, but very inconsistent. I am quite dismayed having paid for this product and have such poor functionality. Any ideas or similar problems?

Hello,

Which firewall do you have ?
Do you have an antivirus with a web shield ?
If you disable or uninstall your firewall and antivirus, do you still have this problem ? Note that it can be necessary to uninstall the firewall (sometimes disabling it is not enough)

Could you tell me exactly what you tried ?
After the synchronization is stalled, could you send to support(at)birdiesync.com the log archive built with "Tools/BirdieSync/Archive logs..." ?

Problem resolved: I use ZoneAlarm 6.5.737 and AVG 8.0 free version on Windows XP SP2. The sync was working with both products active and I didn't recall changing anything when the sync decided to stop working.

However, I must have switched the ZA firewall setting. Through trial and error, I've established that ZA needs to be set to its medium (not high) level of protection for ActiveSync and BirdieSync to work correctly. ZoneAlarm was the problem.
