Birdiesync 2 & Sync over TCP/IP

Hello,

I like the new Birdiesync 2 Beta very much.

Do you have plans to sync over TCP/IP Connection through the new sync-engine?
(For Example: Sync over wireless connection to the computer)

this feature would make the sync independent to USB connection and conserves from a hardware failure of the socket in time... ;-)

Thx.

Hello user66,

Actually, it's already a TCP/IP connection but over USB or Bluetooth. So from what I understood, you'd be interested in a TCP/IP connection over WIFI. By now the main goal is to finalize BirdieSync 2.0, but maybe in the future it will be possible. If other users are interested in this feature. Feel free to post.

For my own part, if the socket failed then the battery would go flat on the mobile device? This is the "other" reason I plug the mobile device into the USB cable.....

true,
and thats also the point why i talked about hardware failure caused by plug in & out by everyday... this will only be a matter of time at this heavy duty.

i would plan to sync nearly on a every day basis and i think the battery will (hopefully) last longer than one day for you too (so not everyday has to be plugged to usb)
when you use bluetooth & wlan very often, the battery surely won't hold that long... but that was not the call in this thread.

hope i could clarify the intention of my post. it's also convenient not to have mess around with cables and a static short cable.

i comprehend that the dev wants to release a stable version of the new birdiesync first before adding new features to the 2.0 release. looking forward...

A mobile connection via a TCP/IP as with exchange server would mean that every change mad on the mobile would be changed on TB and vise versa
This would be a very powerful tool.

+1 on this from me too! :D
I would even think bigger and sync not only via WLAN, but also via WAN (and possibly to a server version of birdiesync running on a NAS...)!

+1! That would be great! And if you say, that it is already anTCP/IP-connection, it shouldn't even be that difficult to implement.

+1! I've been using Birdie for a long time on windows mobile devices (btw great work!) and I'd really appreciate to sync my phone through the internet via Wifi or cellular network :) Especially with a caldav /ical server.
