sync android's gmail account, without creating own

is it possible to make birdiesync sync existing gmail account?
i mean - now birdie is making own "internal/phone" account, which is used with synchronization. it would be nice if i could turn it off and sync with the gmail account configured in pda - this way my contacts will also go to the gmail on the web without any hassle
