synch only Thunderbird Contacts and Sunbird Calendar

Post by stef_204 »

Hi,

I use IMAP email and have setup accounts in Windows Mobile 6 NOT as Outlook account(s) but as "Internet Accounts"--meaning my own email accounts and appropriate settings. Since it is IMAP, I do not need ANY synchronization there as Windows Mobile automatically downloads any new emails received.

However, I DO need sync at the Contacts/Address Book level in Thunderbird (2.0.0.9) AND appointments in Sunbird 0.7.

Is it possible to ONLY synch Contacts and Calendar? I mean, can I config Birdisync to do only that BEFORE it synchs for the 1st time?

I would not want any problems caused by BirdieSync trying to sync thousands of emails, etc.; perhpas even deleting them from my IMAP server, etc.

Since I cannot see config screens on the website, I wanted to ask experienced users for some advice.

Thanks!

Hello,

You can choose which categories of items you want to synchronize (cards, events, tasks or mails) in ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center options. So if you don't want to synchronize your emails, simply leave unchecked the option "mail" in ActiveSync/WMDC options.

Thanks for replying to my posts, Birdy.

Actually, one of the problems is that if I check Calendar in ActiveSync it automatically starts to download Outlooks Calendar Events onto my smartphone (WM 6), as soon as I connect the phone.

1. Since I do NOT want the Outlook events but the Sunbird ones, how do I prevent this "Automatic" behavior on the part of ActiveSync--and make sure ONLY the Sunbird events are downloaded?

2. Also, how do I make sure that whatever is on Sunbird gets downloaded onto phone--as opposed to the contrary where Active Sync/Birdie Sync would see nothing on the phone and delete all events in Sunbird? (Similar problems have occurred to me once in the past with Outlook and ActiveSync.)
