Display of contacts

I have recently upgraded from BirdieSync 1.x to 2.x
Now, the contacts are not sychronized anymore like they were before. As I read it's now in the standard format of Pocket Outlook (meaning "Last name, First name"). However, my newly entered contacts are now listed (saved) as "Last name, First name" while the old ones are still listed as "First name Last name" like before the upgrade. The thing is, I prefer to have it like before using what was written in the field "Display name" of Thunderbird. Now, this has now influence anymore. How can I overrule the default sorting or where can I change the "registry name" as it's called somewhere in the changelog?
If it's not at all possible anymore to save contacts as "First name Last name", how can I change the format of my old contact entries without having to recreate all of them?
