Thunderbird 5.0 and 2.3.4.0 beta - bad news

Post by pewe »

I have installed both TB5 and BS2.3.4.0 beta, and when I start a sync TB is launched but I get the Initialization error and TB is shown as not being connected.

Any suggestions welcome.

This is only an idea, but have you tried launching Thunderbird first and then connecting? I must admit, that's the way I always do it and although BirdieSync occasionally complains it can't make the connection if I try again immediately it invariably does connect.

Thanks Stephen, but I have tried both ways (ie TB closed and open).

Sorry, I'm out of ideas because I don't know how you can access the full logs to send to support if you can't actually connect. I'm sure Birdy will come in with some ideas in due course. Sorry not to be of more help.

Hello pewe and Stephen,

It's not a normal behavior to have BirdieSync unable to connect to Thunderbird, so if you ever have this problem, please feel free to send logs to support to be analyzed.

@pewe: Is BirdieSync menu displayed in Thunderbird ? Can you access to BirdieSync options without problem ? If not, is BirdieSync properly displayed in Thundebrird add-on list ? (menu Tools/Add-ons) Is it marked as compatible and enabled ?

Could you open BirdieSync windows and archive logs with "Help/Archive logs..." and send the log archive to support(at)birdiesync.com ?
Thanks.

Birdy,

I will forward the logs, but one thing I notice is that the log 'BirdieSync.log reports
Local 2011-07-11 18:31:06::798 WARNING: Application is running but with a different profile than the one expected (C:/Users/Name/AppData/Roaming/Thunderbird/Profiles/wp2thakj.default) (GetLastError = 2)
Local 2011-07-11 18:31:06::798 ERROR: Impossible to retrieve port information after application launch (GetLastError = 2)
Local 2011-07-11 18:31:06::798 ERROR: Couldn't connect to application (GetLastError = 2)
Local 2011-07-11 18:31:06::798 ERROR: Couldn't connect to application Thunderbird (result = 0x0) (GetLastError = 2)
Local 2011-07-11 18:31:06::798 ERROR: Could not connect to application (GetLastError = 2)
Local 2011-07-11 18:31:06::798 ERROR: Could not connect to application to prepare synchronization (result = 0x0) (GetLastError = 0)
Not sure why it does this as the profile set in Birdiesync is 'Default' and that is the only profile set up in Thunderbird.
