synchronization hangs at about 50%

Post by peejay »

hi,

i've got a similar problem to this topic.

i recently updated thunderbird to 6.0. birdiesync is updated to 2.3.5.0 [on windows 7], and to 2.3.4.1 on android [froyo].
because of changes that you've made with the accounts, i wanted to fully-synchronize all my contacts, starting from the fresh, clean phone. so i've deleted all the contacts on my android, then reset synchronization on birdiesync and plugged my phone via usb. sync starts and after few minutes it hangs at about 50% [i've got 378 contacts, only 185 are synchronized].. could you please help me? what can i do to sync all of my contacts?

edit: i almost forgot - after it hangs, i cannot exit birdiesync.. i must kill it with taskmanager :(
greetings!

Hello peejay,

It will be necessary to find out why it hangs. A first step is to see if there would be something useful in the logs.

When it hangs, is Thunderbird GUI still responsive ?
Do you synchronize over USB or Wi-Fi. If you use a USB connection, do you have the same problem with Wi-Fi ?

When it hangs, first close/kill Thunderbird: if synchronization stops, it means that BirdieSync was blocked in Thunderbird
If synchronization stops because of the communication failure with Thunderbird, generate a log archive and send it to support.
In not, disconnect your device.
Does it stop the synchronization ?
If yes, it means that BirdieSync was blocked on the device.
If not, it could mean that BirdieSync is blocked in BirdieSync main process on the desktop.
Then uncheck BirdieSync options "Launch synchronization right after the connection of the mobile device"
Reconnect your mobile device and generate the logs.

Could you then send your logs to support(at)birdiesync.com ?

To generate the logs, first, transfer the mobile device log to the desktop with "Help/Transfer mobile device log" (BirdieSync window menu) while your mobile is connected.
Then build the log archive BirdieSyncLog.zip with BirdieSync menu "Help/Archive logs...".

Thanks.
Birdy

thank you for your help!

i've tried all - unfortunatelly all failed, so i've generated logs and sent them minute ago.
the problem shows up with wifi and usb also.
after killing thunderbird - nothing happened.
then i disconnected my droid - nothing happened.
then i killed birdiesync, opened it again, unchecked the option you wrote, and then prepared the logs.

i hope it will show what's up with my config :(

TIA!
greetings!
