Synchronisation of several calenders/contacts?

Hi,
before I buy BirdieSync I would like to ask two questions about the synchronization of several Calenders and Contacs.
As I understand BirdieSync is very well suited for the use with Thunderbird and Lightning.

1) In Lightning several calenders can be used, all having their own .ics file.
In the google calender an account can also have several calenders.
Is it possible to synchronise each .ics file with a specific google calender?

2) Much the same with the contacs. In Thunderbird you can haver several adress books and you can have several contact groups in google.
Is here a synchronisation between specific adress books and contact groups possible?

Thank you for your time.

Hello HCollos,

To answer to you, I assume that you synchronize with an Android device (where there is the notion of accounts). If it was not your question, please post again.

BirdieSync synchronizes each calendar individually. So if you have one ICS calendar named "A" in Lightning and one calendar named "A" in your Android google account, then BirdieSync will synchronize all the events of Lightning calendar "A" with Android Google calendar "A". Note that it is necessary to only have one calendar named "A" on your Android device. Otherwise BirdieSync would not know which calendar "A" you wish to synchronize on the Android device.
You can then synchronize calendars "B", "C", etc. in the same manner.

You can synchronize a Thunderbird address book to an Android contact group which has the same name as the address book. To do this, you must check a specific BirdieSync options:
Thunderbird BirdieSync options (menu "Tools/BirdieSync/Options..."), "Contact" panel, "Miscellaneous" tab.
"link address book to contact category"

So you may create an address book in Thunderbird with the SAME NAME as your default contact group and check the option "link address book to contact group". Then your contacts would be synchronized in a group with the same name as your contact group. But note that it would also affect contacts located in your "Personal address book", and so it would create a group named "Personal address book" on your Android device.
I suggest you to refer to BirdieSync help for more details regarding this option.

problem could be reproduced with photos synchronized from the mobile device. If a contact is edited in Thunderbird after being initially synchronized from the mobile device, the photo could get lost.

Hello jimmight,

This problem should have been fixed in BirdieSync 2.4.1.1. Which version of BirdieSync do you have ? Note also that if you had contacts with photos synchronized from the mobile device with an older version of BirdieSync, the problem is still present for these contacts. It was only fixed for contacts synchronized (created) with the new version of BirdieSync.
