How do I enter the Licence Key??

I am in the process of moving to Thunderbird/Lightning from Outlook and have just purchased BirdieSync (not under this alias!) to synchronize with my Samsung Galaxy SIII android 'phone.
It seems to be an excellent product, but try as I might, I can't find out how to load the licence file(!!). The instructions given in your email do not tally with anything that I have here in Thunderbird/Lightning, and when I go to addons and select the options for BirdySync, there does not appear to anywhere to load the licence file.
Am I being stupid? or can you be a bit more explicit please?? I'm running Thunderbird V17 with Lightning v1.9 and the PC is running Windows 8 64 bit.
