Thunderbird email links won't open in Firefox

Hi

When I connect my Windows phone WITHOUT TBird already open BirdieSync will open TBird for me. This is often the case when I have left the mobile connected overnight and fire up the PC in the morning.

If I then open Firefox to browse and later use a link from an email within TBird I get an error message saying there is an instance of Firefox already running. A bug me think!

I can get round this by closing and reloading TBird & Firefox; or preventing by disconnecting the mobile when starting the PC and opening TBird manually before reconnecting the mobile.

Thought I would bring this to your attention and await a fix.

BirdieSync: 2.4.5.2
TBird: 17.0.4
Firefox: 19.0.2
Windows 7 Ultimate SP1

Hello willpom,

I think that this problem mainly comes from the fact that BirdieSync launches Thunderbird setting the profile as argument (you can choose which profile you want to synchronize in BirdieSync option). And if Thunderbird is launched with the profile in the command line, then it can lead to the error you describe, even if the profile is the default one. I may see if it's possible to omit setting the profile in the command line if it is the default one and if no other instance of Thunderbird is running and see if it improves this behavior...

Just noticed that even if I start the two programs and sync the mobile in the right sequence if I receive a new email with a link I then get the same problem requiring TB & FB to be closed and reloaded.

I only have the TB 'default' profile in the options and can select no other, as there aren't any. My FF does have 2 profiles, my default and one for the misses that is decorated with flowers and cats  accessed via a separate shortcut.

Not sure what you mean by launching TB in the command line. It either launches automatically via BirdieSync or I click on the quick link on the taskbar.

http://eid.belgium.be/en/

https://addons.mozilla.org/nl/firefox/a ... lgium-eid/
some where on that page you can read that this can give this problem.

On my case it was this plugin the gave me problem's so i don't installed it any more for FF until they(EID) have a solution.

I hope i can help you with that

Thanks for the thought.

I don't have EID installed. The said problem doesn't exist when I uninstall BirdieSync but is then again present when reinstalled so I'd say the problem lies with BirdieSync.

I have the same issue, and I have not tried with BirdieSync yet -- but it could be that BirdieSync behaves in a way that the new Firefox (v20.0.1) doesn't accept very well.
