Hey there,
i just figured... unfortunately i cannot edit my birdie contacs on my phone (Andr. 4.3)... If i go, on any contact, to "edit contact"... a white site shows up,... i dont mean an empty contact or something... its completely white... nothing... if i go back, the message: "save contact: you havent entered a name to the contact. press OK to edit the contact" ... followed by an OK button... if i press OK, i am back on the empty "whiteboard" :-( ... thats it! so, i have to kill the contacts :-( Remember, its an existing contact... So, it definetly has a Name!
Any Idea?
Thanks in advance :-)

Any clue?

Hello mcstoned,

I made some tests on the original 4.3 ROM but had no problem creating a BirdieSync contact, editing it or selecting it as a favorite. The problem might come from specific customization of the ROM by the manufacturer. Maybe it doesn't properly handle third-party accounts...
Which model of Android device do you have ? Did you install a cooked/alternative ROM or is it the official ROM ?

When you manually create a new contact on your Android device in the Contact app, are you asked to choose between several accounts ? (BirdieSync would be one of them)
When you choose BirdieSync account, can you fill the different fields or do you have a white screen ?

When you open BirdieSync settings on the Android device (open BirdieSync app and press the Settings buttons), in the Contact app, which accounts are listed ?

Thanks.

Hy Birdy,

Its an HTC One, stock Rom nothing changed all original...
When crating a Birdie Contact, it seems to be working. I can choose "BirdieSync" as "account", and then my "groups" (i do have four different "adressbooks")... But, just now i figured i cannot click "save" (it remains grey) :?:  When i change to "Google" (account type), its black and can be saved  ... i dont get it :?:

In Birdie on my phone there are:
-None
-pcsc
-(my googlemail adress)
-BirdieSync (which is "enabled")
Below that, is "...accounts to be synchronised..." ... shall i enable my google account there as well? Right now only Birdie is enabled there as well... Maybe thats at least the solution for synchronising a new contact from phone to thunderbird?!

Thanks

It seems that the HTC doesn't properly handle contacts when put in third party accounts (like BirdieSync). So a workaround would be to use pspc account instead of BirdieSync account to store your contacts. The HTC contact app should properly support the pspc account (used to store local contacts).

If your contacts are up-to-date in Thunderbird, you may "Reset" synchronization of contacts in Activation tab in BirdieSync window. Then in BirdieSync app, while your mobile device is disconnected, in BirdieSync settings, unselect "BirdieSync" account synchronization for contacts and select pspc account to be synchronized. Also select pspc as the DEFAULT account. Then synchronize again your contacts. Since you reset contact synchronization, the synchronization should restart from scratch (you should be asked if you want to "Replace" or "Combine" your contacts: if Thunderbird is up-to-date, you may choose "Replace"; caution it will delete contacts present in pcpc account before replacing them by Thunderbird ones).
You should now have duplicated contacts: contacts present in pspc account, and contacts present in BirdieSync account. To remove contacts in BirdieSync account, in BirdieSync app, open menu "Remove contacts" and select BirdieSync account.

Thanks so much Birdy :D
But, it only solved one Problem unfortunately :? :?: ... I am now able to add contacts to favorites.
Still, if i want to add a new one at the Phone, as soon as i change account to "Birdiesync" the "save" button gets grey (but not as google account and telephone account)
Thanks in advance

When you manually create a new contact on your Android device, cannot you choose to create it in pspc account (or maybe it is named differently like "Telephone") and no longer use BirdieSync account ?

Wow, thanks for fast reply!! :o :D
Well, the pspc account does not show up anymore... i havent been trying the "Telephone" because i thought, it might only be saved on the Phone itself... okay... let me check right away...
...
A warning shows up saying:
Adding a Telephone Contact will only be synchonised via Outlook or HTC Sync Manager or saved on the phone locally. Do you really want to add?
..
I click okay... lets see ... typing.. typing... blaaa blaaa blaaa ... okay... added... synchronising ...
IT WORKS
Birdy, you are the greatest  8)
No sh*t !!! (sorry  )
Thank you soooo much... for patience and help!!
..
Now, i am looking forward for the new release to "solve" my "differen colors for different calendars" point

THANKS!!! Thumbs Up!!!
