New Windows Security Updates crash Birdiesync.exe
Posted: Wed Jan 14, 2015 10:57 pm
This morning, I installed the following Windows Security Updates on my x64 Windows 7 PC:
KB3019215
KB3019978
KB3021674
KB3022777
KB3023266
From then on, every time I tried to launch Birdiesync.exe (version 2.4.10.0), it crashed with a fatal error message.
Here is an excerpt from the log:
Local 2015-01-14 10:07:21::729 Operating system: id 2, version 6.1, SP 1.0
Local 2015-01-14 10:07:21::847 WARNING: ActiveSync is not installed on this machine (rapi.dll is missing) (GetLastError = 126)
Local 2015-01-14 10:07:21::867 Accepting connection...
Local 2015-01-14 10:07:21::867 Mobile device is disconnected
Local 2015-01-14 10:07:21::895 ERROR: Cannot bind host discovery socket (GetLastError = 10048)
Local 2015-01-14 10:07:21::895 ERROR: Cannot initialize host discovery (GetLastError = 10048)
Local 2015-01-14 10:07:26::317 Waiting for Android device connection...
Local 2015-01-14 10:07:27::345 Application is about to quit
Local 2015-01-14 10:07:27::345 Exiting application
I know that's the problem because afterward, I uninstalled all those Windows Updates, and now Birdiesync.exe runs properly again.
Unfortunately, I do NOT have the time to try to track down just which one (or more) of these five Updates is the culprit. Perhaps you can investigate that. I need to keep up with those Windows Security Updates, but I don't want to lose the functionality of Birdiesync.exe either.
