keep old events when syncing both ways with iphone

My android phone died and I got an iphone.
If I set up Birdie to sync events both ways, it wants to delete 300+ events on the desktop. I read a post here from someone who was doing their taxes and lost important past information by allowing this (should've kept the link - my bad).
Is there a way to sync both ways without having the ghost of steve jobs erase my old stuff - I'd rather not have to keep backing up lightning if possible.

Hello osh000,
What is the name of the synchronized calendar ? (if not personnal)
When you first synchronized with your iPhone, did the synchronized calendar exist on the iPhone ? Or was it empty ? (no event)
What is the number of synchronized events displayed in BirdieSync Activation tab on the PC. Is it 300+ events ?
Which synchronization period limit is set in BirdieSync options ? (Thunderbird menu "Tools/BirdieSync/Options...", Event panel, Miscallaneous tab)
Did you choose "Replace" or "Combine" at first synchronization ?
Did you get the warning about the deletions of events right after you reconnected your iPhone and tried to synchronize a second time ?
Which version of iOS do you have on your iPhone ?
Do you synchronize your iPhone calendars with iCloud ?
Did you subscribe to another remote calendar (iCal, Google, etc.) on your iPhone ?
Can you see the calendar synchronized with BirdieSync on your iPhone ?
Can you see the events in this calendar ?
Thanks.

BirdieSync should be able to synchronize calendars on iCloud.
If you don't need iCloud, would it be possible to turn off iCloud calendars on your iPhone ?
This should convert your iCloud calendars to local calendars. Note that this should change the identifier of the calendar so before reset event synchronization in BirdieSync activation tab.
Then look at the calendars list in your Calendar app on the iPhone. Do you have only one "Oisin" calendar ?
If yes, can you try to synchronize again ? (after having reset the event synchronization)
