Connection of two Thunderbirds

I'm trying to connect two Thunderbirds (on two different PC's, both running Win10). I have defined the Server on PC1 (declaring server on this PC) and installed Birdiesync on PC2, declaring Server on another PC). I have entered the PC1 server hostname correctly on PC2, and tried to connect to PC1. The source name does not become visible on the PC1 Birdiesync configuration page. When I hit connect (in Thunderbird on PC2), Birdiesync on PC1 blinks a couple of times between "Single Source Connected" and "No source connected".

Let me add, that I have successfully connected an Android phone to PC1, and it works like a charm ...

What am I doing wrong ?

Hello John,

In Thunderbird on PC2, do you have an error "Cannot connect to..." or something like "Single source connected" (or another status) ?
Had you successfully declared Thunderbird on PC1 in BirdieSync server ? (Thunderbird on PC1 appears in BirdieSync configuration)
Do you have only the problem of declaration (or connection) with Thunderbird on PC2 ?
If yes, did you copy Thunderbird profile of PC1 to PC2 (copying all Thunderbird profile with contact, events, preferences, etc.) before trying to connect ?
If yes again, did you made this copy after declaring Thunderbird on PC1 in BirdieSync server ?

Hi Birdy,

I have no Thunderbird error messages (I have no messages at all) on the PC2 side. Am I right in assuming that Birdiesync should NOT be launched on the PC2 side ?
I have successfully declared Thunderbird on the PC1 side. It appears in the PC1 Birdiesync config page, and I have syncronised it with my Android phone.Works well.
I only have the problem on the PC2 side . On PC1 Birdiesync the message "Single Source connected" is briefly replaced by "No source ready to connect", when I push the Connect button on PC2. Strangely, the attempt to connect changes the setting of the PC1 Source in the Source column from "Server on this PC" to "Server is on another PC" (when I do a Source Edit)....

I copied (Mozbackup) the PC1 Thunderbird to the PC2 side after declaring Thunderbird in Birdiesync on the PC1 side. I then changed the Birdiesync options in Thunderbird on the PC2 side to "Server is on another PC" and entered the PC1 Server address. Both sides are connected to the same user/password.

Still no joy.

Problem solved - thanks, Birdy!

Problem analysis: When I copied Thunderbird profile to the new PC, the information stored by BirdieSync to identify the Thunderbird source was also copied. So when the remote Thunderbird connects to BirdieSync server, it thinks it's the same source as the local Thunderbird. All of this info is stored in Preferences.xml for Birdiesync.

Solution: Thunderbird needs to be stopped on the new PC. Preferences.xml needs to be removed. It's located in C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\<profile id>\BirdieSync.
After startup of Thunderbird on the new PC, BirdieSync needs to be configured in Thunderbird (tools/BirdieSync/options - or via the BirdieSync prompt) to connect to the server at the 'host' PC (Server hostname, user name, password).
