Copying data to new device and avoiding duplication

Hello. I am getting a new phone (Android Xiaomi Redmi Note 10S) and want to copy contacts and events from my old Samsung S4 phone. I don't want a lot of duplications when I next come to sync. I don't know yet if the setup process helps with the data transfer or if the best route is to use Birdiesync. What is the best procedure?
