Synchronization deletes all my contacts in HTC Vox

Post by Rogner »

I try synchronize Thunderbird 2.0 with HTC Vox.

Synchronization starts but it always deletes all my contacts in Vox.

With Outlook synchronization works fine.

How can I setup synchronization with no delete contacts on my phone?

Hello Rogner,

When you synchronized the first time, were you asked to establish a new partnership for contacts ? If yes, which option did you choose ? Replace or Combine ?
Thanks.

After you have selected "cards" (not contacts), "events" (not appointments), "tasks" or "mails" in ActiveSync window, a windows should automatically be displayed to ask you if you want to "Replace" the mobile items (so delete all the items on the mobile) or "Combine" the desktop items with the mobile ones.
Could you confirm that you selected "cards" in the ActiveSync window. If you did, I am surprised that this window didn't come up...

Normally, when you activate cards synchronization for the first time, ActiveSync should automatically display this window. That's why I am a little bit puzzled.

Could you try the following operation ?

- Check that a default address book is selected in BirdieSync options under Thunderbird.
- Populate again your mobile with contacts
- Disconnect it
- Delete ActiveSync partnership (in ActiveSync window, menu Tools/Delete mobile device, caution: it will lead to a complete resynchronization of your mobile)
- Reconnect it
- Select "cards" synchronization
- Select "combine" (to avoid deleting contacts on mobile)
- Wait for the end of card synchronization

Then see if it synchronizes properly.

Thanks.
Birdy
