Error with 2003 Second Edition

Post by grif015 »

HP 6515 w/ Windows 2003 Second Edit (v 4.21.1088 Build 15159.2.6.4)
ActiveSync 4.5.0 (Build 5096)

On initial installation to Mobile device - warning stating Program may not display properly as it was created for an earlier version. Only choice is OK.

On the mobile under Options/Server Server Synchronization the Check Calendar Contact and Inbox are the only items populated in the Sync these Items List Box (they are unchecked). Cards, Events, and Mails are missing.

On the host Cards, Events, and Mails are checked.

I reinstalled double checking the "Instruction Set" but there appears to be only one option for Windows 2003.

This unit cannot be upgraded to Mobile 5 (hardware issue).

Also, does the Inbox automatically emcompass any subfolders created in it or is there another setting that I am missing?

Thanks

Hello,

Could you tell me which kind of error you meet ? Do you have an error in ActiveSync window ?

Sorry, mail synchronization of sub-folders is not supported yet.

The error is on the mobile device that the Program may not display properly as it was created for an earlier version. I am unable to check the boxes for the Cards, Events, and Mails on the mobile device as they are not listed. The only items in the list are the Calendar, Contact, and Inbox items from Outlook which I have unchecked.

There is no error message displayed, should I be looking for one in a log or something?

ActiveSync appears to be working as RoboForm syncs.

Thanks

The error you got at installation time is not important since there is no BirdieSync user interface on the mobile.

When you say you cannot select "cards" in ActiveSync options, is it on the mobile or on the desktop ?

Did you see security warnings during installation regarding security policy ?
Could you give me the content of BirdieSyncInstall.log located in C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Local Settings\Temp ?

I cannot select "cards" on the mobile.

There is no file "BirdieSyncInstall.log" in the Temp directory. I just ran a seach of the entire hard drive and it cam back negative.

There were no security warnings during install.

On the Mobile device:

Folder: ProgramFiles/BirdieSync

Three Files: DeviceProvider, Install, Preferences

The DeviceProvider contains:
Local 10/06/2007 13:43:24::0000 BirdieSync: version 1.5.4.3
Local 10/06/2007 13:43:24::0000 Operating system: PocketPC, version 4.21
Local 10/06/2007 13:43:31::0000 Number of Mails on device = 16
Local 10/06/2007 13:43:33::0000 Number of Appointments on device = 47
Local 10/06/2007 13:43:34::0000 Number of Contacts on device = 29
Local 10/06/2007 13:43:41::0000 Beginning of synchronization
Local 10/06/2007 13:43:50::0000 End of synchronization

The Install file contains:
Local 09/06/2007 19:53:27::0000 Installation successful

The Preferences file contain a web link

Does this help?

From what I understand, you cannot select "cards" directly on the mobile options but you can select all the categories in ActiveSync options window on the desktop.

I tried on a mobile under Windows Mobile 5.0 and actually I cannot modify BirdieSync selections on the mobile. It is necessary to go through the desktop. I am not sure it will be possible to do much about it since it seems more related to ActiveSync...

Do you at least succeed in synchronizing your mobile ?

Yes, I was able to synchronize my mobile. I was just trying to follow your instructions and when the selections didn't appear on the mobile as your instruction stated, I thought something was wrong.

Thank you for your prompt responses. I like your little program and just registered it.

I wish you success!
