Problem Syncing Vista to Windows Mobile 6

Post by tck1000 »

I'm having a problem getting content to sync to my T-Mobile Dash, after I
loaded a software upgrade to my Dash to upgrade from Windows Mobile 5,
to Windows Mobile 6. The error that seems to recur is one about "cannot
mount database".

Here's the contents of my various log/preferences files:

Code: Select all

        </object>

The sync connection between the device, and the Windows Mobile Device Center, is working just fine. It's just not syncing any BirdieSync content.

Is this because Windows Mobile 6 is not supported, or have I just overlooked something?

Thanks.

Hello,

Thanks for the logs. Your mobile is a smartphone. I wouldn't be surprised if your mobile would be still application locked (and the error in the mount database is an "access denied").

Do you have a BirdieSyncInstall.log located in C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Local\Temp ?

What's wierd, is when I first installed it, my phone was running Windows Mobile 5, and it was unlocked. And Birdiesync worked to sync.

I wonder if the new software load on my dash needs to be unlocked again.

So I don't think that the log is correct as it should hold the date of your last installation.
If you try to reinstall BirdieSync on the mobile (with the full usual BirdieSync installer), do you see warnings during the installation regarding the security policy ?

Yes. I see the warnings. It looks like the upgrade from WM5 to WM6 on the T-Mobile dash has reapplied the application lock settings.

I couldn't get the HTC signed version of PHMregedit to work for setting values in the registry, but I was able to download a regedit tool from http://www.breaksoft.com/Blog/Utilities ... ditor.aspx that worked just fine.

I was able to set all the registry values as defined at http://birdiesync.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=61.

Once that was done, I re-installed BirdieSync, and I am happy to report that I am back in business.

Thanks very much for your quick reponses.
