Hi all,
Each time I update birdiesync without previously uninstalling the version installed on my pc, the thunderbird extension does not seem to be updated.
In fact when I take a look at the Thunderbird extension version, it stays the same...

There might be a problem with Thunderbird extension manager cache.
Before any operation, do backup your Thunderbird profile:
C:\Documents and Settings\<users name>\Application Data\Thunderbird\Profiles\<profile id>\
("Application Data is a hidden folder, check that you can see hidden files (in File Explorer options))
In the profile of Thunderbird: C:\Documents and Settings\<users name>\Application Data\Thunderbird\Profiles\<profile id>
Close Thunderbird
After having backuped the following files, delete them:
- extensions.cache
- extensions.ini
- extensions.rdf
- compreg.dat
- xpti.dat
Relaunch Thunderbird

I use the portable Edition of Thunderbird version 2.0.0.6, is the process to follow the same ?Birdy wrote:There might be a problem with Thunderbird extension manager cache.

Ok... I read in one of the sticky topic a the top of this forum in the process to follow in order to upgrade BirdieSync that you recommand to uninstall it first, is it absolutely necessary ?Birdy wrote:I think so. If you want to find your portable Thunderbird profile path, look at it in BirdieSync options.

Presently, when you install BirdieSync, uninstallation is not done automatically prior to installing. So you just overwrite previous installation. It generally works fine but not always. For instance, there might be problems with Thunderbird/Sunbird extension manager which doesn't manage properly the upgrade. That's why it is generally a good idea to uninstall BirdieSync first, launch Thunderbird and Sunbird to uninstall BirdieSync extension and then reinstall it.

Ok, so, even if this method is a bit longer, it seems to be the safiest one ...Birdy wrote:Presently, when you install BirdieSync, uninstallation is not done automatically prior to installing.
