Uninstall error: DesktopProvider.dll

Post by chazz »

Whenever I try to uninstall BirdieSync (v1.6.8.1) I get the following error:

===========
Error while unregistering DesktopProvider.dll
Please check that you have administrator rights under the current user account
===========

I am the administrator, I've tried uninstalling with my JASJAM (Windows Mobile 5) both connected and disconnected. I've tried terminating the WMDC process and closing Thunderbird, to no avail. I continue to get BirdieSync messages whenever I try to sync and the program won't uninstall.

What to do?

P.S. I have tried installing the latest version over mine, and then uninstalling. This did not change the result.

Hello,

Right after the uninstallation error, if you still have access to "Tools/BirdieSync/Archive logs..." in Thunderbird, could you send the log archive to support(at)birdiesync.com ?
Thanks.

I get:

"An unexpected error happened during the log archive building"

After the error displayed by the log archiver, could you send to support(at)birdiesync.com the file LogArchiver.log located in:
XP: C:\Documents and Settings\<users name>\Application Data\BirdieSync\Log\
Vista: C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Roaming\BirdieSync\Log
(Application Data is a hidden folder: in explorer window, you must check the option "Show hidden files and folders")
Thanks.

I sent you a new version of the log archiver to avoid the error you mentioned. Could you launch it after the uninstallation error and send me the logs back ?
Thanks.

You must delete the WMDC partnership to get rid of these blank icons.

Did you delete the WMDC partnership ? (Windows Movile Device window/Mobile Device Settings/End a partnership)
Could you confirm that you use Windows Vista 32 bits ?
Thanks.

yes i ended the partnership and created a new one, still the conduits appear

i am using 64-bit vista, not 32-bit, if that makes a difference...
