Notify of new versions

Post by tobiasly »

Is there any way to get notified when a new version is released? I couldn't find any RSS or Notify options for the News thread.

Hello tobiasly,

Actually it is an old request... I had no time to look for an efficient add-on to add RSS support to the forum. But I know that some users would be interested in it.

Hm... Actually there is already a RSS feed now available in the main forum page: the orange "RSS feed" icon, near the news sub-forum.

The notification by mail will be offered when phpBB 3.0 is released.

Hi, what happened to the RSS feed for the new versions? Will it be available again? Another way could be to be able to subscribe to a single forum. So, what's the plan?

Hello,

The RSS feed mod can no longer be used after the upgrade to phpBB 3.0. When an official mod is available for RSS, it will be installed in the forum.
But by now you can simply subscribe to the news sub-forum. You will then receive a notification whenever a new post is made in the news forum.

There's no possibility to subscribe to the News forum. For the others there is but as News is Read-Only it seems to be disabled.

That should be now possible. Once logged, you can subscribe to the News forum at the bottom of the page ("Subscribe to forum"). You will then receive a mail when a new topic is added in this forum (so when a new version of BirdieSync is released).

What is the limit to updating my registered version? I currently have 1.6.3.3.
