It is impossible to initialize traces (error=0)

Post by jonhawkins »

I am running thunderbird and Birdiesync on Vista 64. Works fine for a while and then I get this error message when I start up Thunderbird. Have tried uninstalling so as to re-install but the uninstall fails with the same error, so I am stuck in a loop.

I have tried doing a system restore but that fails due to an unspecified error.

Any thoughts gratefully recieved.

Hello,

I'm having the same problem, are there any solutions by now?
Im runnning Thunderbird 2.0.0.22 with Lightning 0.9 and Birdiesync 1.7.1.1 on Windows XP SP3.
It was running properly for more than a year and then suddenly crashed.
I already tried to reinstall Birdiesync on both the PC and the Mobile but the error is still there.

Any help will be appreciated

Hello Birdy,

thank you for the test version. I've already tried it and it crashed with the same error, but it gave me a lot
more information. I haven't written down the exact phrase but it said there is a problem with a log file (it showed the
whole path). When I was searching for this file (in documents and settings\user) I've noticed that the entire
user directory was missing, it was accidentally hidden (in folder preferences) and therefore Birdiesync couldn't
access the application data folder anymore. I unmarked the hide option in preferences and all worked well again.

I have another question, shall I continue using the test version or do you think it will be better to reinstall the
latest stable version (so far everything seem to work properly).

Thanks a lot for your help.

I suggest you to upgrade to 1.7.1.2 which has just been released.
