Event Categories

Post by tobomda »

Hello birdie,

today I have seen a little mysterious thing during event synchronisation with my Windows Mobile device.
In options I have set the checkbox "Don't synchronize events on the mobile device with categories matching no calendar".
I have created an event on mobile device and have setted no category, so it is set to "None". I have no calendar that is named "None".
Syncronisation has copied the event to thunderbirds default calendar.
Is there a mistake in text for the checkbox? Must it unchecked, when I don't want the the syncing events with no category ?

P.S. Have installed the newest version.

Hello tobomda,

You told me that you set no category for your event.
I quote BirdieSync help:
If a category is selected for an event, for which there is no matching calendar, the event will be excluded from synchronization. But if this event has no category at all, it will be synchronized in the default calendar.

Oh, that I have "overread". That's a pitty, I have 4 calendars and have the names of them "hacked" in the fixed HTC calendar list. So I don't have to start Outlook to set the event category.
This list has only 5 entries for categories. So I can select one of my 4 calendars or "None".
It seems that the text "None" is assumed as "nothing". So I must hack this text also, for example to "DeviceOnly" or similar.
Not so pretty...
