How to clean uninstall?

Post by Pandamonium »

I want to install the new beta but you give no instructions on how exactly to do a "clean uninstall". There was no uninstall/remove program in windows for birdiesync and when I try to do it from pocket pc it won't allow it because activesync is using the program and the extension still stays in thunderbird with no way to uninstall it (uninstall is greyed out).

Uninstall disappeared ? Normally, when you install BirdieSync you should have BirdieSync <version> in the usual Add/Remove programs under Windows XP and an uninstall shortcut in the BirdieSync start menu...
It is normal to have the extension in Thunderbird greyed out. It should be removed automatically by BirdieSync uninstaller.
Furthermore, if you disconnect your mobile, there should be no problem to delete BirdieSync device part. It is not used by ActiveSync.
I saw that you tried to install the new beta. But tell me if you succeeded to uninstall the previous version before.

Uninstall not complete

Post by hmaier »

I uninstalled BirdieSync using the uninstall link (Start menu/BirdieSync). The uninstall seemed to work except that I now have inactive Cards, Events, Mails and Tasks icons in the ActiveSync (4.2.0, build 4876) "Tools/Options" dialog on the PC and the handheld.

How do I remove these links?

Apart from editing the registry which I don't recommend, I think that the only way is to delete Activesync partnership: In ActiveSync window, menu File/Delete Partnership
