I have probably the same issue. I have synchronized by deleting all contacts on the mobile. Afterwards all contacts are somehow stored (moved?) to my google contacts (but not synchronized with google).
There is no option for birdiesync on "default contact account" on the phone ( there is one at events, this works as expected).
At the next synchronization, birdiesync wants to delete all contacts on the desktop, probably because there are no birdiesync contacts present, just google contacts.

Phone: HD2 Nexus (Android ICS 4.0.3)

I remember with the old Android version, I had an option to synchronize to birdiesync for "Default contact account"

Klaus

Hello hqc001 & Klaus,

Could you tell me which version of BirdieSync you have on your Android device ? (click on the (i) button at the bottom right)
Which default account did you select for contacts in BirdieSync settings on the Android device ?
Which account(s) did you select to be synchronized for contacts in BirdieSync settings on the Android device ?

@Speckbear

What do you mean by that ? Do you mean that "None" is selected ?

Thanks.

Do you have a Google account on your Android device ?
After the synchronization (stop the synchronization when you see the warning mentioning that BirdieSync wants to delete the items on the desktop), if you look at the details of the contacts on the Android device synchronized from Thunderbird, do your synchronized contacts belong to the local Phone account or the Google account ?

they belong to the Google account. Strange but the Google account on internet has fewer contacts than the phone !!!

So here is my understanding of what happened:
On some specific devices, even if contacts are created in the default Phone account, Android may automatically move them to the Google account right after their creation. It can happen after a short while, or after a reboot. So the next time synchronization is launched, BirdieSync no longer find these contacts in the local Phone account because Android moved them into the Google account. So as these contacts are considered as deleted (no longer present in the local Phone account), BirdieSync will want to remove them on the desktop.
This potential problem is mentioned in a warning when you select the Phone account to be synchronized for contacts in BirdieSync settings.
So the solution would be not to synchronize your Phone account but rather the Google account. If you don't want to synchronize your Google account with the web, you can disable Google synchronization with Android Menu Settings/Accounts & sync/Google and uncheck contact synchronization.

Does BirdieSync see any other option to prevent this from happening?
I really enjoy the idea of having a local phone contacts db-table on the phone, that will never ever be synced with google, but just with my Thunderbird via BirdieSync.
