How to delete accounts or account events no longer in use

Post by BillH »

Hi Birdy,

I know this isn't exactly a BirdieSync question, but I thought you would know the answer.

If I go into BirdieSync on my phone and look at Events options, I see the following counts:

Phone: 0
Motorola: 1489
BirdieSync: 1775
local@phone: 857

I think the local@phone events are the ones from my original phone calendar which I'm not using anymore.

I think the Motorola events are left over from my first aborted attempts to use BirdieSync to sync. Then I decided to use the BirdieSync account instead. The only checked account is BirdieSync and it is the default.

Is there anyway to get rid of the events in the Motorola and local@phone accounts? I've told my calendar app to only display BirdieSync so it really isn't bothering me, but I'd rather just get rid of these anyway to clean things up if I can.

Thanks for all your help.

Bill

Hello Bill,

You may remove events in some specific accounts with BirdieSync app Menu/Remove events (select the account where you want to remove events).
But before doing this ensure to have a RECENT BACKUP of your data.

Be careful with this feature. If you selected the Phone account for contacts to be synchronized, on Motorola devices, it is not recommended to remove contacts in both Phone and local@phone contact accounts.

Hi Birdy,

Thanks for the info. I had totally missed this menu. The last sentence confuses me a little bit. Maybe you can help me understand.

I have the BirdieSync account set up to synchronize. I do have a Motorola phone.

In my case Is it ok to delete events in the local@phone account? My Phone account has no events already.

I'm guessing from what you said that removing the events from the Motorola account is ok.

Thanks!

Bill

There should be no problem cleaning the event accounts. I was referring to contact accounts on Motorola devices (in case other users would want to do the same thing with contact accounts).

But as usual, in any case, ensure to have a recent backup of your data before doing any cleaning or new synchronization.

Birdie,

I somehow missed that you meant only contacts, not events. I deleted the events from the calendars I'm not using and all seems fine.

I really like the program and the support you provide. I'll be registering as soon as the trial period is up.

Thanks!

Bill
